LaunchHaven in 2013: Taking Startup Acceleration to the Next Level (January 24, 2013)

NOTE: January’s LaunchHaven event will be held at 6pm on Thursday, January 24, 2013. In February and March, we’ll return to our normal “third Thursday” schedule (6:00pm on February 21st and March 21st).
In January of 2012, LaunchHaven posed a simple question to the New Haven startup community – ‘What do you want to launch this year?‘
Throughout the year, we provided a community platform for dozens of area entrepreneurs to pitch, plan, network, and help each other find their way to their own version of startup success. And the program served as a platform for more than just local entrepreneurs. In August, Launch Haven partnered with Startup America/ Startup Connecticut to host a pitch contest that sent eBrevia to the DEMO stage in CA. In October, LaunchHaven participants had the opportunity to practice their pitches for SWNH 2012. Finally, a few weeks ago, we topped off the year with a packed-house happy hour event open to any CT entrepreneur.
In 2013, we’re building on these community successes to bring you a bigger, badder, bolder LaunchHaven. Our 2013 program will also expand to accommodate the unique needs of startups that are past the pitch stage via LaunchHaven: Boardroom.
More on that in the future – for now, here are the details this month’s event…
Date/ Time/ Place: LaunchHaven is typically held at the Grove on the 3rd Thursday of each month, in the evening. This month, we will be meeting on Thursday, January 24th to integrate LaunchHaven with a larger event happening on the 24th.
LaunchHaven is proud to have been selected as a program for New Haven’s Grid as part of the Connecticut’s Innovation Ecosystem project. As part of this change, LaunchHaven is going to cap off an Grid launch event being held on January 24th. During the day, Hub leaders will be on hand to meet startups, high growth companies, and entrepreneurs to help them learn about and access Hub services.
The event will feature a special guest mentor – soon to be announced on the Grid website.Launch Haven will commence at 6:00pm in The Grove.
For February and March, Launch Haven will resume on its normal schedule. Join us on 02/21 and 03/21 for pizza, beer, and innovative fun.
Registration: If you’d like to attend this month’s event, RSVP here. The cost is $10 to offset food/drink costs. Note that cash will not be accepted, even on the night of the event. Additionally, registration will close at 4:30pm on the date of the event.
